A week ago today, I was in the ER at St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia, Washington. I don't want to go into all the details and everything. Suffice to say, I was in an auto accident and slammed my head against the side window - hard. The diagnosis was that I suffered a moderate concussion. While this isn't the first concussion I've experienced over the years, it is by far the worst. I'm still feeling the effects, but it's getting better day-by-day. At first I got sick and disoriented just focusing on anything - couldn't read, let alone write. As you can see, I've thankfully progressed beyond that. I still can't read or write for long periods of time without developing a pounding headache, but it's still better than it was.
I'm off until the 15th of January to recover. Hopefully I'll get to the point where I can get back into writing before then.
As for the New Year that's right around the corner - who gives a fuck? The Earth is millions of years old and "2019" doesn't mean a f'ing thing. The changing of the calendar year doesn't change anything. Wake up on January 1st - SSDD (same shit, different day). It's not a clean slate. It just isn't. That being said, take the opportunity to spend time with those who really matter. Take the opportunity to plan for the future. And for f's sake, reflect on what hasn't worked for you AND MAKE A CHANGE!
And... The f'ing headache is back. So until next time, it's always a good day to read some f'ed up shit (unless you have a concussion).
