The Merry Capitalismas Post

'Tis the season for avarice and greed... Fa-la-la-la-fuck this shit.

As you can probably tell, I'm not a fan of Capitalismas. Never have been. Never will be. (As for similarities between me and the Puritans, pretty sure it ends there.)

I say that, but this time of year has at least been more tolerable since I've been with my fiancée. For one thing, she agreed to have a black Christmas every other year. I know how that might sound, but it has nothing to do with race. Rather, instead of the traditional red and green color scheme (a complete eyesore in my opinion), we decorate a black tree with white lights, ornaments of silver and purple, and silver garlands. Around the rest of the house, the color scheme is the same - even black stockings.

Having a little one also has lifted my typical holidaze mood. My daughter is eight, and just seeing her excited for the coming holiday is contagious (even more so than Covid). This year, she convinced her mom to decorate kitty-shaped cookies - a nice touch for the cat people we are. (Meow.)

Another thing that has gotten me through the most annoying time of the year are holiday traditions. Every year, I look forward to watching A Christmas Horror Story with the family. If you haven't seen it yet, what the fuck are you waiting for? It's an anthology of twisted holiday tales anchored by none other than William Shatner, and I highly recommend it. The first Bad Santa is another great one to watch this time of year.

Think we can all agree that 2021 sucked ass but, at least for me, it could've been worse. No one in my immediate family contracted Covid (knock wood), being on-set for the film adaptation of Harvest was a great experience, the release of Shadowood has been pretty successful, and my family has our needs covered.

Looking ahead, I have three WIPs in various stages of completion and the second segment of the Twisted Tales series, Snow, will be out in October. I was hoping for a full book tour in '22, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. (Not going tour when Covid is still front-and-center.) I'm not going to rule out doing a few signings though.

Anyway, Happy Whateverthefuckyoucelebrate. Hope it's a great one and/or you have enough weed to get through it with your sanity still intact.

Peace...
